Stages of Language Aquisition
Pass/Fail Guidelines for ML's
Students who are new to the country and who are identified as Multilingual Learners with a WIDA Level 1 (Entering) or Level 2 (Emerging) can be on a Pass/Fail status for a maximum of 1 calendar year.

Translating Guidelines
DO
- Use during instructional time for students that are below a WIDA score of 2.5 for logistical purposes.
- Use for reinforcement of instruction in or outside of class time.
- Continue to scaffold and support Tier I instructions.
DON’T
- Use for every ML
- Translate all instructional materials
- Use for assessments
- Use in replacement of Tier I instruction
