Pinning Tabs in Chrome

In the Chrome browser, you can lock your most-used tabs to the left side of your browser window. When you pin a tab it shrinks the icon size so that you can fit several of your favorites in a small space.

To organize your tabs, right-click on a tab in Google Chrome and select the “Pin Tab” option. (See image.) You can do this for any of your web apps that you use frequently throughout the day. This will anchor all of them to the left and then you can move around the pinned tabs amongst each other into an order you prefer.

One of the other benefits about the Pin Tab feature is that you can’t close these tabs by accident, since the “X” goes away once you pin them. This can be great to use with students who are often accidentally closing tabs. As long as the students are using a Chromebook or the Chrome browser on a PC, then they can also pin their tabs as outlined above.
