The Affordable Care Act requires that employers report to the IRS on your medical insurance. The IRS has extended the due date for 2015 ACA reporting requirements.
Employees receipt of forms:
- 1095-B: Health coverage forms to individual employees » Extended due date from Feb. 1, 2016, to March 31, 2016.
- 1095-C: Employer-provided health insurance offer and coverage » Extended due date from Feb. 1, 2016, to March 31, 2016.
PEHP will follow the revised schedule below:
- By Feb. 29, 2016, individual 1095-B or 1095-C forms will be mailed to employees by PEHP.
As a result of the IRS extension, employees may file their individual tax return prior to receiving the 1095 form by relying on other information received from the employer. Employees don’t need to send the 1095 form to the IRS once they receive it and they don’t need to file an amended return. Employees should keep the forms with their tax records.
IRS notice 2016-4 has more information about the date extensions.
